In 2008, PCS and ONC embarked on a project to setup and manage a Virtual Private Cloud for the school's back office. The intention was to implement a fully virtualized environment to migrate away from server hardware that was up for renewal.
After a flawless migration with almost zero downtime of ONC applications, all previous physical servers had been consolidated into the virtual environment, resulting in a 50% reduction in the total physical IT hardware and rack space previously used. ONC realized enormous savings in IT hardware expenditure, and continues to save on drastically reduced power consumption of the virtualized environment.
PCS has recently completed implementation of a shared storage solution that holds all ONC business critical servers, powered by NetApp storage, and has implemented a two-tier backup strategy with storage divided over multiple locations.
PCS manages the majority of ONC's server infrastructure on an ongoing basis.
